Several of the 35 articles of impeachment deal with lying about the build up to the war. Article 2 is about how Mr. Bush repeatably tried to tie the 9/11 attacks to Saddam Hussein and Iraq

On or about September 12, 2001, former terrorism advisor Richard Clarke personally informed the President that neither Saddam Hussein nor Iraq was responsible for the September 11th attacks. On September 18, Clarke submitted to the President's National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice a memo he had written in response to George W. Bush's specific request that stated: (1) the case for linking Hussein to the September 11th attacks was weak; (2) only anecdotal evidence linked Hussein to al Qaeda; (3) Osama Bin Laden resented the secularism of Saddam Hussein; and (4) there was no confirmed reporting of Saddam Hussein cooperating with Bin Laden on unconventional weapons.

We were very surprised to have 23 today. Many, many honks and other displays of approval! Positive response is definitely growing and the few negatives seem insignificant by comparison.

Passersby seem more and more interested in making sure we see their thumbs up, and peace signs, hear their honks and supportive comments. More windows are rolled down and eye contact is made with us, and we acknowledge them with our peace signs, smiles, waves and shouts of THANK YOU! They want to make sure we are aware of their support and it's SO rewarding to have that exchange.

Ten people on the line today. More honks and thumbs up than usual. We are beginning to believe that we are making a difference in our little town after all!

Don't forget our 1 year anniversary, July 13. If you can't make the protest come to the activist party afterward and bring some friends!

Carmel Valley:

Carmel Valley ENOUGH had 9 great folks on the corner today .... we had to contend with Father's Day events, San Diego Fair parking and buses and U.S. Open parking and buses.

Lots of folks driving by today .... one nice lady stopped at 1:58 and gave us a dozen cans of soda. Will keep them for next week.

Plenty of honks and waves .... the usual few thumbs and fingers.

More and more large SUVs and military stickered cars are honking .... great sign.

Still soliciting ideas for our one year event on July 27th.

Seven protesters were arrested at Blackwater's headquarters in Moyock, N.C. last October (video). They were held for five days after the arrests. At a trial on December 5, 2007, the judge cleared the courtroom of spectators then found the protesters guilty of trespassing and resisting arrest. On appeal they were released on 'time served' (story).

You know, I think that the Blackwater people showed a great weakness when they called the cops. Why did they feel so threatened by these protesters? Blackwater deserves the criticism. They reacted inappropriately in Nisour Square and Moyock.
